Teachers To Go is looking for an in-person private middle school math & science teacher to tutor an 8th grade boy at his home in Alexandria VA 22309 Monday-Friday mornings for two hours. This is a wonderful opportunity for the right teacher/tutor: a part-time homeschool tutoring position with only one student that pays $50/hour.

Looking for a teacher with ADHD experience who can teach and tutor Algebra 1 and 8th grade science using the student’s online homeschool curriculum. (The parents will choose and supply the curriculum, but may be willing to collaborate with the right teacher about which curriculum is used.) The teacher will tutor both math and science subjects, work to identify educational needs, and review progress with the student and parents.

The right teacher will be personable and warm, imaginative, (able to think outside of the box), patient, encouraging, and able to provide positive feedback. Looking for a teacher who is flexible and reactive to the student’s needs. (For instance, the teacher should be able to assess when to take strategic short breaks.) Previous experience with ADHD in an inclusion or SPED environment is preferred, but not required.

Teacher candidates should have at least a BA/BS, and a minimum of two years professional teaching or tutoring experience. (State-certification is preferred, but not required.) Requirements: Minimum BA/BS and two years professional middle school math and science teaching or tutoring experience. Some prior experience working with students who have ADHD in an inclusion or special education environment is preferred. State teacher certification is preferred, but not required. Must be comfortable teaching math (Algebra 1) and science subjects at the 8th grade level using the student’s online homeschool curriculum. Must have your own reliable transportation and cell phone, and must be able to travel to the home of the student in person in Alexandria VA 22309 for two hours in the morning Monday-Friday. Must have good communication skills, and must be willing to interview in person in Alexandria VA 22309 and remotely via live video chat.
