Full Job Description

Teachers To Go is looking for a full-time elementary teacher to teach all subjects in-person to a homeschooled eight year old boy and a seven year old girl at their home in Indianapolis, IN 46259. This is a wonderful opportunity for the right teacher: a full-time position Monday-Friday from 9:30am-3:30pm that pays $75k/year with housing option + paid time off and free travel.

A minimum BA degree and at least one year of teaching is required (3 years of teaching is preferred), along with the ability to participate in physically active play with the kids. Must be comfortable teaching and creating or using existing curricula that is apolitical with no religious aspect or influence. (The parents are willing to collaborate with the teacher about the curricula or curriculum that is used.) The right teacher should be able to implement and teach with a focus on experiential learning, take care of all lesson planning, oversee all subjects, and facilitate experiential learning in a manner that is reactive to each child.

Looking for a teacher who is enthusiastic, adventurous, open-minded, organized, self-motivated, flexible, physically active and creative who also believes in learning methods outside of traditional public school. The right teacher will also be enthusiastic about nature and outdoor activities, and enjoy taking the students on hands-on education-related excursions one day out of the week (museum, zoo, library, parks, farm, etc). Additional ability to teach extra-curricular subjects like arts or music is a plus, but not required.

Looking for a long-term teacher who is willing to sign a contract with a minimum commitment of one year. On-site housing may be provided at the teacher’s option. (No pets or additional persons, and no stipend or additional pay is offered if on-site housing is declined.) All expense-paid travel opportunities 2-3 times a year are also included at the teacher’s option to beautiful adventurous locations like Hawaii, Japan, Canada, etc. Travel opportunities are not required, but if declined, the teacher must be willing to teach remotely at odd hours while the family is traveling.

Paid time off includes 2 weeks paid vacation (to be scheduled with the family in advance), major holidays, and one month off in summer while the children attend camp. Requirements: Minimum BA with at least one year of elementary teaching (3 years is preferred), and must be physically able to participate in aerobic activities with kids. A degree in elementary education and a teaching certificate is preferred, but not required. (Ability to teach additional extra-curricular subjects like art or music is a plus.) Must be willing and able to teach with no religious aspect or influence, as well as remaining politically neutral. Must have a driver’s license with clean driving record, and must be willing to take the children on education-related excursions. Must be able to live at or travel to the location of the family in Indianapolis IN 46259 to teach in person Monday-Friday from 9:30am-3:30pm.
