Teachers To Go is looking for a part-time in-person elementary teacher to provide personal assistance for a boy in 4th grade in his small private school education classroom in New York NY 10021, Monday-Friday mornings from 8:30am-11:00am (plus extra opportunity for additional 1.5 hours on Tuesday afternoons at teacher’s option). This is a wonderful opportunity for the right teacher: a part-time morning position teaching and assisting just one student in a small classroom that pays $100/hour ($250/morning, $1250/week).

Looking for a teacher who is able to help a 4th grade boy who experiences fatigue in the mornings and is used to doing homeschool at his own pace transition to a small classroom of 8 students at a private school in Upper East Side Manhattan. This will be a temporary position for the remainder of the 2025/26 school year. The private teacher will assist the student and help him adjust to his new general education classroom environment. The right teacher will be able to help “interpret” and “translate” his education in his inclusion classroom and work with him 1-to-1 without doing the work for him, while also helping with academic executive functioning.

Job duties will include breaking down information coming from the classroom teacher one-to-one for the student so he can succeed academically, advocating for the student’s needs, and collaborating closely with the classroom staff and the family. The goal is to foster confidence and independence, so that the student can manage in the classroom environment on his own the following school year.

The right teacher will be caring, patient, calm and intentional. Looking for a teacher who is a strong communicator, who can speak slowly and who is experienced and comfortable providing support to a student in a classroom environment. The right teacher will be able to facilitate and promote positive peer interactions and problem solving when challenges arise. Looking for a teacher who is capable of providing nurturing assistance, but who can also be stern when necessary since independence is the goal. Ideally, the teacher will be a team player able to develop a rapport with the student that is the right balance of authority and caring, while also working well with the general education teacher and the parents.

Teacher candidates should have at least a BA, and a minimum of one year professional full-time teaching experience in a classroom (an inclusion classroom is preferred). State-certification is preferred, but not required. Additional experience with one-to-one teaching or tutoring is a plus.
