Full Job Description

Teachers To Go is looking for an in-person Texas-certified elementary teacher (EC-6 or K-6) to homeschool a 5 year old boy at his home in Magnolia, TX 77354. This is a great opportunity for the right teacher: a part-time position teaching just one student Monday-Thursday from 9am-2pm that pays $65/hour ($1,300/week).

Looking for an elementary teacher who is passionate, nurturing, creative, and flexible enough to pivot and react to the student’s individual interests and abilities. The right teacher will be able to design and deliver individualized daily lesson plans and align them with state academic standards in all core subjects from kindergarten through elementary. The teacher should be able to go beyond standard curriculum to deliver a rich, experiential learning environment that connects academic concepts to real-world application and prepares the child not just for school, but for life.

Candidates should be enthusiastic about designing and implementing customized experiential hands-on project-based learning that will include examples like teaching outdoors and taking nature walks on the family’s 30 acre farm, gardening when studying plants, cooking when exploring fractions, visiting local businesses when learning about community, touring museums when learning about history, and exploring financial literacy concepts when learning about addition and subtraction.

Duties will include detailed progress documentation and regular parent reports, collaborating with the parent to evolve curriculum goals over time, off-site learning experiences and customized field-based lessons as appropriate, and incorporating life skills education including practical problem-solving, emotional intelligence and critical thinking.

Applicants should have a minimum Bachelor’s degree in either Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education, Texas state teacher certification EC-6 or K-6, and at least five years of classroom teaching experience working with early elementary-aged children. The additional ability to teach and speak Spanish is plus, but not required. Requirements
Must have a minimum Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education, Texas teacher certification (EC-6 or K-6), and at least 5 years classroom teaching experience at the kindergarten or early elementary level. Must have familiarity with recognized kindergarten curriculum framework and the demonstrated ability to create individualized lesson plans and track academic progress, and must be comfortable teaching all core subjects from kindergarten through 4th grade in a homeschool environment. Ability to also teach and speak Spanish is a plus, but not required. Must have your own reliable transportation & cell phone, and must travel to the home of the student in Magnolia, TX 77345 Monday-Thursday from 9am-2pm.
