"Finding the right teacher or education-related professional for families is all we do. Since 2007, Teachers To Go has been the premier placement agency in the U.S. known exclusively for matching families with private teachers."
Teachers To Go provides private teaching, tutoring and homeschooling services by matching you with the right teacher. We provide in-person services for clients in all areas across the United States, including remote areas and the surrounding suburbs of major cities. We have homeschool clients in California, Texas, Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, New York, North Carolina, Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Washington, Indiana, Ohio, New Jersey, Wisconsin, Massachusetts, Oregon, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Delaware, Utah, South Carolina, Idaho, Maryland and all over the United States. No matter where you live, in ten to twenty business days, we will bring the right qualified teacher for your family to your house.
Contact Us and we will review the information submitted in our form, then reach out to you via email with basic information. We will also schedule a detailed phone consultation if you decide to work with us. (The first consultation normally takes about an hour, but you are not limited to that amount of time and you can have unlimited consultations with us during the consultation phase.) In fact, you can have as many consultations as you need. During the initial consultation, we will answer your questions about private teaching, tutoring or homeschooling and how a private teacher might best fit your needs, and collect all of the information from you that is necessary to help us determine which teacher or teachers would be the best fit for your family. We will also discuss any preferences that you may have regarding private teachers or homeschool programs.
If you already have or have already determined which curriculum you would like to use, we are happy to send you a teacher who is the right fit for that curriculum. We will go with your preferences, and we have no set curriculum since no one curriculum works best for all students. Some professional teachers have worked with many bonified curriculums, and if you have a preference, we may also be able to bring you a teacher who has prior experience with your curriculum of choice. Alternatively, if you are not sure what curriculum to use and would prefer first to consult with the teacher you hire, this can be arranged as well. If you would like curriculum recommendations or want to know more about accreditation and accredited programs in your state, we are also happy to offer information and guidance so you can make choices specifically based on your child's needs and learning style.
We know you’re not looking for a nanny, a babysitter or a college tutor. We know you’re not looking for a household placement agency to charge you thousands of dollars up front, plus 10-30% of first year salary when recruiting classroom teachers isn’t even their expertise. Recruiting teachers is all we do. And we do it for an affordable fee.
Although most families who contact us prefer in-person instruction with a private or homeschool teacher, we also have families who need teachers online and teachers who prefer to teach online. Whatever your preference, we will find the right teacher for you.
We also understand and respect that each family has their own priorities and may require a balance of both in-person and online learning. Some families require remote learning only when they are traveling or when there is a higher risk level at times due to medical issues. We support your decisions regarding protocols, and one of the advantages to working with us is that we will make sure any teacher we bring you is the right fit for your choices in this regard. If your child is learning virtually or working with a remote curriculum, we can bring you a private teacher in person to provide complimentary support at your own house who is in-line with and will respect your medical requirements or other preferences. If/when preferred or needed, your private teacher can also teach remotely. It is always your choice.
We do not set you up with a teacher and leave the rest up to you. We know you’re busy, so we are always available to answer questions, offer advice, and discuss any concerns with you and your teacher(s) or tutor(s) throughout your contract. For instance, preschool and kindergarten homeschool have a different set of circumstances and different needs than 2nd or 3rd grade homeschool, and we will remain available to consult as your children grow.
Services for students with special needs can be challenging to find, but we have many expert teachers with special education backgrounds. This allows you to choose and implement the most appropriate supplemental teaching aligned with your child’s remote school or homeschool program, and enjoy the benefit and expertise of a special education teacher by their side to make sure everything is on track. Alternatively, we can bring you a special education teacher to write a customized curriculum (an Individualized IEP) for your child. We can bring you teachers who have expertise and experience with ADD, ADHD, Autism, cognitive or speech and/or language delays, dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, processing deficits, and/or general learning or physical disabilities. We will always make sure that we provide you with the teacher who has the proper expertise and who is best suited to assist your child.
"All we do is match teachers and education-related professionals with families for an affordable price. That’s it. There is no conflict of interest because our low fee stays the same regardless of the price of the teacher."
If your family travels often, we are happy to provide solutions. We can bring you a teacher who will teach online while you are away, or a teacher who will travel with your family and continue to provide face-to-face instruction while you are on the move. Many of our client families live in two or more locations. Whether you prefer virtual or remote education or you prefer to make arrangements for in-person private tutoring with a homeschool teacher while your children are at home and the adults are traveling, we can do that. No matter your needs, we will make sure we bring you the right match.
We work with client families on a regular basis who are relocating because of work or because one or more parents are corporate professionals. We also work with a lot of client families in professional sports like the NFL, MLB or NBA who have been recently traded or are making a lateral move. We work with professional entertainer families, families with parents who work for the government, and families of all kinds moving for multiple reasons from state to state or internationally to the US. We can work with families directly, through relocation companies, or through executive assistants. If you are moving to a new location and will be in need of a private teacher or education-related professional, we can definitely help.
If you need a bilingual teacher because your family speaks English & Spanish or another language, or you need a bilingual teacher because you want your child to be taught in more than one language, or you would like group instruction or tutoring for your student simply to learn a second language in addition to their regular academics, we are available to provide for your needs. We have bilingual private teachers in most languages for most subjects in most every area, and many thousands of teachers across the US who speak more than one language. If you are located in a major city or suburb, chances are good that we can provide in person help at your house in any language you need. If you are in a more rural area and the second language is not too uncommon, we may still be able to help. If you prefer, we can also provide you with an online bilingual teacher who cares about your goals. Either way, we can provide you with a bilingual teacher who will facilitate the most effective instruction for your family.
Some of our client families haven’t yet chosen a curriculum or program for their children, and they prefer to collaborate first with the teacher who they hire before making that decision. Other families prefer to hire a teacher to write a customized curriculum from the ground up that is completely reactive to each child’s needs. However, some families are hiring a teacher for part-time supplemental tutoring only using their current curriculum, or they are hiring full-time but already know what learning method they prefer, and they want a teacher who is specifically trained or certified in that particular method. We fill these types of positions on a regular basis. If you are looking for a teacher with experience in Montessori, Waldorf or other learner-led education, we’ve got you covered. We also fill Classical Christian curriculum teacher positions often, including some that require the teacher to speak Latin. It is also common for many families to contact us and request a teacher who is comfortable teaching faith-based Christian curricula, such as: Abeka, The Good & The Beautiful, Sonlight, My Father’s World, or Liberty University Online. For families who prefer project-based learning, we often get requests to bring them a teacher who is experienced with Calvert, Miacademy, Apologia, Time4Learning or Khan Academy. If you have already chosen a particular curriculum or a preferred method of teaching as part of your requirements, we will make sure to bring you a teacher who is the right fit.
Most of our families are busy, and many of the parents are working professionals. In addition, some students work best in the morning, and others are more attentive later in the day. Some of our client families have children who attend hybrid school homeschool groups on certain days, or their kids are training for professional sports or in professional entertainment. In all of these scenarios, customized scheduling becomes important. We are accustomed to filling requests for certain days and certain hours that are compatible with all kinds of different scheduling needs. We guarantee to bring you a teacher who is the right fit for your children and your family’s goals, and we can accommodate any schedule you prefer.
First, we do a lot of listening to your goals and priorities during the consultation phase, and we ask a lot of questions. This is why we include unlimited educational consulting as part of our service, to make sure we understand your goals and preferences when we discuss all of the details so that we know exactly what we are looking for. Then we search, recruit, contact, vet, and do many hours of interviews with qualified teachers on your behalf to bring you the teacher who is the best fit for what you describe. We have a competitive advantage because we have been recruiting teachers 24/7 for over 15 years all over the United States. We have relationships with local teachers in every city and most rural areas, to provide us with information and feedback whenever and wherever needed. We do both outbound and inbound search when recruiting, using both proprietary and standard channels. We are so confident in our ability to fill your position that if we can’t even bring you at least one teacher who meets all of your requirements who is available for you to hire within 20 business days, we will refund your payment in full. That almost never happens.
Yes. We do not share any personally identifiable information about your family. We do not disclose your identity to teacher applicants or candidates, or to anyone outside of our office. When interviewing and recruiting, we only provide general information about the family and specifics about the job. Your name and the names of your family members (including the students), your address and other contact information is always kept confidential.
Most of our families hire us to bring them a certified classroom teacher, but this is not always the case. You may or may not have other requirements that are equally important or more important to you than the teacher’s credentials. We may make suggestions, but as the employer, ultimately you will decide what qualifications are acceptable for the teacher you hire to teach your family. We will be glad to advise you if needed, but it is always your decision. If you are hiring a teacher for homeschool, you may also want to consider your state Department of Education homeschool requirements. That said, although our client families are all very different from each other, the most common qualifications we see are a minimum BA, at least 2-3 years of teaching experience, and often (but not always) state-certification.
Yes. During the consultation phase, we will also advise you on what is likely and unlikely in this regard. There are some instances (especially when the position is part-time) where it may be less expensive and more productive for these to be two separate roles with two different professionals. However, this is always your choice, and we have lots of experience filling teacher/nanny positions when indicated. We would be happy to discuss this type of proposition and how to make it look attractive to the best talent during the consultation phase.
You can, but you will likely be compromising the quality of the teacher. Normally, you will be able to obtain a teacher of higher quality of you make these two separate roles. If it is absolutely necessary to combine the two for your family’s needs, it will be essential to define the exact job duties for the cleaning role. As always, we can advise you on what is likely and unlikely regarding any education-related professional household position. Ultimately, the decisions are always yours. Once a decision is made, we will also advise on how best to make the position look attractive. (Hint: In this case, it is not just about the salary. All cleaning duties are not equal.)
Yes, but we only recruit teachers and education-related professionals. We don’t charge a percentage of salary or thousands of dollars up front, we charge a one-time affordable fee for each position filled. There is no conflict of interest, since we make the same amount regardless of how much you pay the teacher. Our service also includes unlimited educational consulting prior to beginning the search.
Yes and no. We are a teacher company. We provide private tutoring, but only with professional classroom teachers.
A classroom teacher can sometimes provide private tutoring, but a tutor is not always a teacher. A teacher with classroom teaching experience will understand curriculum, scope and sequence of all core subjects (or at high school level perhaps a specific subject), student assessments, the psychology of how to work with students (especially children), and overall what each student needs to know in order to move forward to the next level. A teacher can also customize curriculum and add supplemental learning, or adjust what is already there to fit the student's learning style while still aligning content with the required standards. A teacher who is experienced with a particular method of education or a specific type of curriculum may also be valuable to you. A tutor is simply someone who has learned a particular subject prior to the student, and now can help the student score higher on tests and quizzes in that particular subject. In other words, a tutor is often an older student who has studied and passed the subject before.
Every family is different when it comes to timelines, priorities and preferences, and there is no one process to follow when hiring a homeschool teacher. Some of our client families are very methodical. They may start with a phone call interview with one or both parents, then move to videochat with the teacher, then meet in a public place with the teacher, then do a thorough background check that meets their comfort level, then meet with in a public place and introduce the students to the teacher, then meet at the home and present a contract for a trial period, and then if the trial period goes well, present a more detailed contract and make a hire. Other families are more casual. They may skip any or most of these steps. We respect every family’s preferences, and will never tell you what to do. However, we will be glad to advise and present you with options, and also answer any questions you may have about hiring processes during the consultation phase.
No. We source and recruit teachers for any set of circumstances; including supplemental tutoring outside of regular school hours, 1-to-1 assistance for a child in their classroom at their school, extra-curricular activities, and in-person or online academic teaching during school hours to assist enrolled students with their program.
Yes. This is a common request from many of our client families. We can bring you a teacher who is the right fit to supplement any homeschool curriculum, and we can also accommodate any schedule you prefer.
Normally, we can bring you your first finalist candidates around 10-15 business days (calendar days not counting weekends & holidays) from the end of the consultation phase when all of the details of the position have been decided. However, we guarantee to bring you your first one or more finalists within 20 business days (roughly 1 month) from the end of the consultation phase.
If we can’t can’t even bring you at least one teacher who meets all of your requirements and who is available for you to hire within 20 business days, we will refund your payment. If you don’t like any of the finalist candidates we bring you within the 20 day guarantee, we will continue to bring you more candidates until the position is filled. That is our obligation to you.
We provide a two month guarantee for any teacher we introduce to you who you hire. If everything isn’t perfect (ie: if for any reason the teacher you hire is not the perfect fit or doesn’t work out within 2 months from the time of introduction), just let us know and we will replace the teacher at no additional cost. We will continue to keep in touch and make sure that you are always happy.
