Teachers To Go is looking for an in-person early elementary teacher 3 days/week (Monday-Wednesday or Tuesday-Thursday) in the morning from 9am-12pm, to teach all subjects to a 5 year old girl who is very intelligent but also has high-functioning Autism at her home in Ponchatoula, LA 70454. This is a wonderful opportunity for the right homeschool teacher: a part-time position teaching just one student three days a week in the morning that pays $40/hour.

The family is looking for an early elementary teacher who has experience teaching children with high-functioning ASD (Aspergers), or is willing to learn about ASD and how to best support the student. The right teacher will be patient, empathetic, flexible and reactive to the student, calm, consistent and confident. The teacher should be able to redirect attention when the student gets distracted. Looking for a teacher who is creative with explanations and a good communicator.

BA and minimum of at least one year of prior classroom teaching experience is required. Must be authorized to work in the US. Must be willing to collaborate with the parents regarding multiple subject-based curricula the parents choose, but they are also open to collaborating with the teacher regarding the curricula.

Requirements: BA and minimum of one year classroom teaching experience is required. Prior experience working with children with ASD or willingness to learn about them is required. Willingness to use hands-on teaching methods along with traditional formal classroom methods, prepare lessons, and instruct all kinder & 1st grade subjects is required. Must be authorized to work in the US and be willing to collaborate with parents, must have your own reliable transportation and cell phone, and must be willing to travel to the home of the client in Ponchatoula, LA 70454 Monday-Wednesday OR Tuesday-Thursday mornings from 9am-12pm.
