Teachers To Go is looking for a late elementary or middle school teacher to provide in-person private homeschool for one 5th grade girl who is gifted and also has high-functioning autism on Monday-Friday afternoons from 12pm-4pm at her home in Sandy, UT 84092. This is a wonderful opportunity for the right teacher: a private homeschool teaching position on weekday afternoons for four hours daily that pays $50/hour ($1000/week), beginning in August for the 23/24 school year. Salary is paid weekly at the end of each week, and a female teacher is preferred since the student is female.

Late elementary or middle school classroom teachers with experience teaching gifted and/or twice-exceptional children are preferred, as are teachers with at least some prior experience teaching children with high-functioning autism. However, we will consider classroom teachers without that experience as well as 1-to-1 private teachers, as long as they have professional experience teaching this age group. All candidates must have a BA or BS, and minimum of 2 years full-time professional in-person classroom or professional 1-to-1 teaching experience working with elementary or middle school students.

Looking for a teacher who is engaging, loving, compassionate, positive, consistent, patient, interactive, energetic yet calm, and organized. The right teacher will be creative and extremely resourceful, and able to spark the love of learning. Looking for a teacher who genuinely loves learning and teaching, and who is intuitive and able to sense when the student might need a break, can't sit still for long periods, or when it might be necessary to break instructions down into one step at a time.

Teachers who apply should be able to customize, align, aggregate and/or write appropriate curricula as needed. (Parents are open to collaborating with the teacher regarding which curriculum or curricula is used.) Must be a good communicator, and a team player who is able to communicate regularly and work with the parents. The right teacher should also be willing to supplement with outdoor exploration and interactive venues, and be willing to become involved with the local homeschool community.

Requirements: BA or BS and minimum 2 years prior full-time classroom or 1-to-1 professional teaching experience working with late elementary or middles school students is required. State certification and some prior experience working with students who have high functioning autism and are twice-exceptional or gifted is preferred, but not required. Must be willing and able to use a customized curriculum approved by the parents or create an IEP and/or aggregate appropriate curricula.
